Hope for the Hungry 2007 – Hope for the Holidays - Please partner with Open Door Mission to make this Christmas full of hope for the homeless and near homeless in our community by participating in one of the following Christmas programs.

Santa'sWoods

The Shepherd’s Lights is a drive-through computer animated light extravaganza! It opens up on Friday, November 23 and will run daily until Christmas from 6 PM to 9:30 PM. A portion of your $5 per car entrance fee will be donated to the Open Door Mission! They are located at 3764 Hwy 133. Blair. Nebraska and their phone number is (402) 426-5250.

Groceries

Our Holiday Food List is canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit, instant mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, pasta and tomato sauce, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, soup, and jello. OperationSanta

Operation Santa can provide hope and happiness for lots of needy children and their families. You can provide the following new toys for homeless and needy children: Pull Toys & Trucks, Action Figures, Lego and Duplo Sets, Hang Held Games, Puzzles, Board Games, Barbies, Baby Dolls, Art Sets, Fleecy Throws, Balls, Coloring Books, and Play Doh.

ChristmasBells

Christmas Bells is a program that collects gifts for homeless adults and children to experience holiday love all year long. This program is in need of the following: Phone Cards, MAT Bus Tickets, Men’s Socks, Men’s Underwear, Bath Set, Perfume OR Cologne, Watch, Make Up Set, Hair Dryer, Curling Iron, Alarm Clock, and Hand-Held Games.

AdoptaFamily

Even though this blog post is more of the Omaha Nebraska region, I’m sure that if you are inspired you can find programs like this locally in your area too!     I have to tell ya — we went and checked out the lights and it was great! Especially when we rounded the corner towards the barn and saw Rudolph. The kids were so excited. It sent goose-bumps right up my spine. We will probably do that again next year too! :]
