It’s interesting how God shows you different things at different times in your life.
I used to have a lot of respect for Oprah. In a lot of ways I still do. BUT, there are times that I have doubted her and I think her definition of who God is bugs me.
Seriously, who does she think God is? Sure, you can’t wrap him up in a box because there is so much about Him. BUT, it is important to know who He is, to say who He is, and to make who He is clear to the world every chance that you get.
Oprah certainly has lots of chances to do that and in my eyes she is failing: MISERABLY.
Now that I am getting to see what Obama is all about I am horrified that she has endorsed him. I am horrified that I considered voting for him but I do forgive myself because I was still in the learning process of getting to see Obama for who he is.
I don’t know about you but this God Tube video about Oprah is disturbing to me. Thanks Becki for sharing it on your blog!
I apologize for leaving two consecutive posts but I just saw what Texas Truth had to say and I have to say it looks like you posters (not all) a little drunk of the your own ability to leave comments. Oprah, a position in the white house? Really can we not make outrageous statements that have zero baring on the conversation(or in truth). Because the topic on Oprah is a great one, and a good conversation to have. I think many people can relate to her because she is such a great giving person and they are drawn to that personalty. So to know your own standing with god is probably very important when you watch her show because shes always offering different perspectives and many are pretty outlandish.
I think god would have to be pretty diverse guy considering the fact he made all the different ethnicity’s. Watching them grow and develop into different cultures I would imagine as a father he would be so interested to see what we would do. Just like our parents growing up he has rules constructive guidelines for safer living, we can chose to ignore those or not. Just like a loving parent though he doesn’t hate us if we don’t if anything hes heart broken because he knows that those discussions can lead to pain, and who wants that for their loved ones. You and I are his loved ones. Please don’t mistake other crazy Christians views of the truth as the truth for all of us. Fight your better urge to say no to what I’m about to suggest and indulge me for a minuet if you don’t mind. I would love to her any comment you have and answer and any question you may have, with a very straight from the bible prospective. not with any agenda in mind. Please know I consider my place right now one to set the record straight on what many think is the truth. Their are a lot of denominations a lot of different views but why is one the truth over the other? I would love to discus that and be any help I can be.

Wow really that was so poorly concocted I cant even think of a response to give you. I mean I can but… wow. First thing s first pretty sure Oprah said she was in the video, the one at the top if you want to watch it again and double check. Wouldn’t not call it a race issue either I think that’s stooping to a really stereo typical right wing evangelical christian problem which might have merit but I would steer clear. Although I can see what your saying about the war man thing. I just think we (all that profess to know the true meaning) should only be speaking with love and respect after all that’s what the j man would do.

I am currently viewing the Oprah clip and I’m horrified. How dare she? I heard she was going a bit weird, but not dat weird. I will pass this to my friends on facebook and let them know.

I suppose Oprah is entitled to believe whatever she wants to just like we are. I’m just glad that she’s revealed a bit of who she is so that I don’t hold her in such high esteem as I did before.

Oprah is just not the person that I thought she was. I think there are many great and wonderful qualities about her but it’s not always enough. I’m entitled to feel that way, right? You are entitled to feel the way that you do, right?
Anything I was just offering myself as a sounding board/resource and someone willing to talk about the common misconceptions of Christianity.
Im not sure if you are responding to my post or not so i will just be general for now. Instead of watching Martin Scorsese version of Jesus, try picking up the good old tried and true book of the lord. That one that is filled with is heart for you and I that.

Oprah is about power. Oprah has endless power. I believe she sees herself as greater than God. When she backed Obama I smiled. I knew she would. She also jumpstarted with 400 horsepower his pre-campaign with her endorsement of “he is the one”. Need I say more …….
When a political figure with a paper thin resume, manufactured by the Democratic Party with a pre-determined agenda for delivery to the halls of government thus the people …. America needs to wake up. Wake up now. Smell the smell …. a celebrity of the enormity of Oprah instilled in the psyche of millions of viewers the comparison of Obama to a Christ-like Messiah. Wake up and do your research if you are still entertaining the notion to give your vote to ….. a contrived candidate. If America tsunamis Obama into the White House …. America will get exactly what she deserves …. and it won’t be salvation.
Oh believe me when I say that my eyes are wide open to NOBama.
I personally will have no part in ushering him into the White House.

angela …. I can see you have seen the light regarding BHObama and Saint Oprah. My post was more addressed to the blind lemmings of this electoral cycle. The Obamamedia as I refer to it has brushed aside, swept away and scorned all attempts to question his readiness or motives. That, in and of itself should have Americans howling. Meanwhile, a Christian woman (Palin) has been demonized, criticized and demoralized in their “clean campaign”. Christian persecution plain and simple. All I can hope for is there are millions like you that stopped and said … “wait a minute!” When we stop questioning those that seek the highest office in the nation ….. we surely are doomed to fall.

Sure there are many paths to God. Just like you can get on any road and it’ll take you to disney world. It doesn’t matter if it’s going the right way. All roads lead to Rome, remember?
All sarcasm aside, there’s only one way. That’s the reason that in almost half the world, being a Christian is life-threatening. The other “religions” know, and it scares/angers them.
Now that Obama is in, hold on. Our religious liberties are going to go very quickly. And God help us all if Obama and Biden die, because with Pelosi the third in line, the radical liberals will have a field day. No one who believes in Jesus will be safe.
What kind of religious liberty’s are we going to go?
I used to admire Oprah and her spiritual shows/views, but no longer. My brother disliked her long ago and warned me not to watch her. I would just laughed him off. It seems he knew something about her I didn’t know.
While she does some charitable work, mostly in Africa, what about Chicago where she lives?? Her shows do feature some good topics as well as guests; I like Dr. Oz, however now that I know more about Oprah and her views on God and Obama I am distancing myself from her. Why does she have to be the only one on the cover of her mags too?
I recently heard she is going to buy out Discovery Health and put her own channel on there…strange, thought she already had a channel?? How many does she need? I like Discover Health, don’t get why they would sell out to her?? She also used to attend the same church Obama attended 20+years, with G-d America, Rev Wright. Like, Obama she probably quit just to distance herself for financial reasons/political reasons. Makes you wonder what other twisted beliefs she might have?
I am no longer going to watch her and am putting together a coalition of women/men/moms/dads, etc willing to boycott the MSM, including Oprah, The View, CNN, MSNBC,NY Times, US magazine, etc., all liberal/bias media that misinformed the public on Obama by not vetting/investigating the truth about him without their own personal bias and agenda.

We already can’t put the 10 Commandments on public property without a fight. A Menorah or an Islamic symbol is ok – but not a nativity scene.
High school valedictorians in Mississippi were not allowed to mention Jesus in their speech, on the threat of federal prison if they did. Several graduations were attended by federal agents, in order to intimidate the kids.
Now we have a pseudo-Christian coming into the presidency who doesn’t even love this country enough to pledge allegiance to it, or to wear a flag on his lapel for fear of offending foreigners. (He did finally wear one when people protested.)
And YES, Barak, the US is, was, and ALWAYS WILL BE a Christian nation. Don’t like it? Go be president of Iran.
(Ok, finished with my rant for the day!!)

To Crunchy: I am so sick of everything being about race. I’ve got some news for you. Just because I don’t like Obama, or Oprah for that matter, doesn’t make me a racist.
Why are you so quick to jump up and scream “racism” when someone thinks differently than you do?
I am a minority, but I think it’s sad that you’ve turned a discussion about religious truth into a race issue. Not every white person is racist. ANYONE who feels that one race should have special privileges just because of their race is, by definition, a racist.

And I didn’t know that just ONE group of religious..Christians had it right over everyone else…again..not racism..but intolerance and a total lack of respect for other people’s beliefs
I believe that Jesus is the only way. John 3:16 sums it up for me but that’s just me and how I feel about it.
I think people that demand tolerance should show a little bit of tolerance.
I’ve been watching Oprah for years and I think some of what she does is good. But lately, I’ve noticed a different side to her.
Oprah is not born of the spirit, therefore she cannot see nor enter the kingdom of God. She is not of Christ sheepfold. 1 Cor. 5:12 “For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside.” I think there are doctrines being taught from behind pulpits on Sunday mornings that are much more detrimental to our souls than anything that Oprah believes and teaches. We need to turn our televisions and radios off and stop listening to secular talk show host and receiving of the their minds and seek to know what the mind of Christ is. As far as President Elect Obama is concerned, it is written “You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.”

And yes, I’m intolerant sometimes. Believe what you want – that’s between you and God. But don’t change or remove the stuff in the Bible that you don’t like and then claim to be a Christian. Either it’s God’s word or it isn’t. If it is, it all is. If it isn’t, none of it is.
This is His world, His rules. If you want to believe that there are many ways to God, that’s your prerogative. But you can’t reconcile that view with Jesus’ own words – “No man comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus is the only way and those that choose to believe and have faith in that way have that right. We are sharing what we believe. It’s up to you what path you are going to choose. In the end God will judge, not me.

God is the one that will judge our actions in the end. God is the one that decides what will happen to us.
