What do you think of this God Tube video about Oprah?

Hat Tip! A Walk Through the Valley
It’s interesting how God shows you different things at different times in your life.
I used to have a lot of respect for Oprah. In a lot of ways I still do. BUT, there are times that I have doubted her and I think her definition of who God is bugs me.
Seriously, who does she think God is? Sure, you can’t wrap him up in a box because there is so much about Him. BUT, it is important to know who He is, to say who He is, and to make who He is clear to the world every chance that you get.
Oprah certainly has lots of chances to do that and in my eyes she is failing: MISERABLY.
Now that I am getting to see what Obama is all about I am horrified that she has endorsed him. I am horrified that I considered voting for him but I do forgive myself because I was still in the learning process of getting to see Obama for who he is.
I don’t know about you but this God Tube video about Oprah is disturbing to me. Thanks Becki for sharing it on your blog!

Highly disturbing! (and you’re welcome)
I was in the Obama haze for a while too and have long since come out of it.
I find it very strange that so many Christians flock to Oprah - I find myself wondering if they ever open their Bibles and read them. What Oprah is preaching is not what God is saying that’for sure - it is quite scary!

I had received this via email (it was hitting like every email group I was on it seemed…lol) and it’s just really disturbing…had my jaw on the ground thinking..wow…that’s just….scary.

Oprah really scares me. She is going in directions, for quite a while, that I question. If Obama gains the White House, look for her to have some sort of “official” position in his administration.
PS: My email address was incorrect on the previous post.

I said years ago that her views about God were disturbing and her influence was scary. However, it really is not surprising, when she moved in with her boyfriend with no plans to marry it was inevitablet that she would have to create a “feel good, all is okay” version of God. I like many of the things that she does but don’t share her opinion of God and limit my viewing of her show to about 20 minutes a year. Glad to see that others are aware too!

Hi Becki!! I’m really glad I have your blog in my newsreader. This was an awesome topic and I didn’t want to take up your entire comment section. (You know how it goes when you have a lot to say about somebody else’s blog post) It’s actually taken me years to see the light at the end of Oprah’s tunnel and believe me, it’s not all that bright. At least not as bright as I once thought it was.
Twinkle Mom!! I agree!! I wonder what she’ll wind up doing when she retires her show for good. The possibilities are endless AND a bit worrisome. I’m a bit disappointed in myself for having gone for a ride with her for so long. It’s a good thing I am able to change my mind.
Hi Texas Truth!! I wouldn’t be surprised either. I used to say that the only way I would vote for Obama was if Oprah was his running mate. I feel really stoopid for even having gone there!! I’ve learned A LOT about Obama, Oprah, and even Hillary Clinton in the last 6 months. I am leaning towards voting for McCain to be honest. I have to think about our military and issues of security. I don’t like everything about McCain BUT there is more that I don’t like about Obama and Clinton as compared to the things that I don’t like about McCain.
Hi Karen!! I have always wondered why her and her live-in boy toy never married.
Ok.. I’m coming to each of your blogs to check out your stuff!! That’s my favorite part about comments. Getting to see what y’all are up to and adding you guys to my news reader!!

Someone had actually venture about if Obama winning, her being placed in a position on his cabinent and when I had read that…my first thought honestly was…wow…false prophet…what’s next? Peace in Israel? Yikes!
It’s just really frightening watching that video and thinking…how far she has swung and just the power of her influence.
I’m a bit disappointed in myself for having gone for a ride with her for so long. It’s a good thing I am able to change my mind.
*Hugs* Don’t be…I think we all had one time or another had some form of respect for her and well..got taken for a ride after that…What gets me is knowing there are some people who can still watch that video on Godtube and still make excuses for her…I’m thinking…okay what more does it take to realize it’s time to be very very concern about her.

The comments that I have read above are really scary to me.(very judgmental and negative energy) This is not my view of the golden rule which is don’t do unto others what you would not want others to do unto you.
My father told me(when I was very young) that this golden rule is the essence of the bible and god’s work and all the rest is commentary.
Be kind. Believe what you will but please don’t point fingers at others and especially at those who give tremendously across the globe.
Tell me what bothers you exactly about Eckhart Tolle and Oprah. She doesn’t tell anyone to give up their beliefs. She says that there are many different beliefs and ways to be spiritual. Well that’s true don’t you think?
Twinkle Mom | Apr 9, 2008 | Reply
Myrna,
It’s interesting that you would say that. The difference with Christianity and other beliefs is that:
Christianity may be defined by some as a religion, but it is more than a religion; it is a relationship with Christ.
While the great religions of the world teach that men must do something for God to earn His favor and to gain heaven, Christianity teaches that we can never do anything good enough to earn a place in heaven.
It is the undeserved Grace of God through Christ.
If you haven’t had the chance…That piece of phrase can be found in what is called the “Sermon of the Mount” and you can read it here
Have you had a chance to read the bible itself?
It may seem daunting but the best place to start is the “Gospel of John”.
We encourage you to read the “Gospel of John”
and see if you have understood the message of Jesus.
If you have believed that Jesus is telling the truth when He claims to be the Son of God who gives eternal life to everyone who believes in Him, then you can claim this precious promise from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Regardless of how you feel or what people may say, you have eternal life.
As your love for him draws you nearer to Him you will know the joy and fruitfulness a close personal relationship with your Savior brings.
Thank you so much for your thought provoking comment Myrna and hopefully this can help answer some questions though I know not all and God bless you!

Hi Myrna ~
There are a lot of good people that do good things but the bible says that there is nothing we can do to earn our way into God’s kingdom.
I think when it comes to the Bible it’s important to look at everything it says AND to keep those bits and pieces that people pull from the Bible inside of the context in which it is represented as a whole.
People have different ideas of what being spiritual is all about. You can think you are being “spiritual” but that doesn’t mean Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior.
Eckhart Tolle and Oprah can sit around all day and open up their arms to all the religions of the world and it will do absolutely nothing for true spirituality in the sense that Christ desires a relationship with them.
Their belief system is flawed and if speaking up about it means that I am judgmental by your standards – well – that’s your opinion and you are entitled to that opinion.
Twinkle Mom probably explained best. I hope you read her comment if you haven’t already.

I agree we as Christians need to have a personal relationship with God. I also believe it is not our place to question anyone’s relationship with God. We are not in their shoes. We have no idea what is in their heart.
Tim | May 22, 2008 | Reply
Wow,the Oprah video is really no big suprise. This mindset is spreading like wild fire. But, the Lord said that it would happen. We are told in Matthew chapter 7, beginning in verse 13 that the way as well as the gate that leads to heaven is narrow and that the gate and path to destruction is very broad.
I both hear and see discussions like this go on all of the time. What is paramount for us as christians to remember is that God has chosen to use us as instruments to get his truth out to others. The biggest problem that I see in the church today is that we are doing a lot of talking about what we believe but are falling short of demonstrating it with our lives.
If we would spend as much energy living out our faith as we do talking about it, I am convinced that there would be more followers. Without sounding like too much of a pessimist, I believe that we, that is the church today, is being rocked to sleep with passive watered down versions of the gospel. We need to do more than go to church on Sunday and listen to the preachers. We need to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God the Father, creator of this earth and of mankind. You cannot have a “true and meaningful” relationship with someone that you do not know. This relationship calls for deep intimacy and love. It must direct our thoughts and actions. There must be a difference between Christians and the world.
The comment was made earlier about not knowing the heart of others. Well, that is a very true comment, but in the same chapter that I mentioned earlier it is written that we will “know them by their fruit”.
I suppose that we could go back and forth for ever on this, but the question is this. Is the word of God true? That is the basis for any conversation related to God. Do you believe in his sovereignity and his word? If you are one of those that picks and chooses which ones are right and which ones are wrong, how do you know which ones are right and which ones are wrong?
I could go on and on, but I pray God’s people
would open their eyes and that they would seek his face and not his hands.

I think it is so sad that because a young GOD SEEKER (maybe even new christian) hears a wrong word or sees a false representation of God and so they choose to make a god for themselves and then they miss out on a real relationship with the only living God- Jesus Christ. they can never have this unless by faith they believe first and seek the truth from Him. Then He will manifest himself to that seeker! I pray for Oprah to have the only thing she cant buy!!!!!

I am happy to see this and I love Oprah!!! There are many paths to the light, and no one religion has a lock on the right way- Jesus is one, as is Mohamed, Krishna, Yaway, Jesus hung with the sinners, and knowing him I know that he believes in respecting all, not just those who agree with him…
I am confused about one thing… what is wrong with a peace alliance?
only one way! | Jul 4, 2008 | Reply
Ok, here is the truth about only one way,and Jesus being that way.Jesus said that he was the only way and not to mention the only one who ever got to come back from the dead after 3 days to prove it! where is another person in any other church or new age crap.read a case for Christ. If there are really other ways to heaven, why didn’t Jesus say so? why did his followers die such bad deaths for standing up saying he was? who else fed 3000, or 5000 people with 2 fish and a couple loaves of bread? who else raised the dead? healed the sick? gave sight to the blind? hearing to the deaf? or said they are the only way? with all of that history as well? if Jesus didn’t say these things and come back from the dead, then why would so many people die in his name? to the point of being burned alive, or hanging one a cross or being stoned to death? when King David, soloman, Isiah, and on and on wrote about him it was word for word what paul and peter said.

I don’t watch Oprah. However, I did watch this video, and see nothing wrong with what she is saying. There are as many ways of “being” as there are people. Have any of you examined McCain in the same manner that you scrutinize Obama? McCain left his wife who stayed with him through his POW time in Viet Nam after she became paralyzed. He left her for a much younger rich woman. He’s also called her several swear words in front of camera crews, and owes over 4 years worth of taxes on one of his homes in California! Yet, people like the creator of this video continue to focus on things like who Oprah endorsed rather than issues that matter. I’m willing to wager that the book “Don’t drink the Kool-aid” is authored by Republican propaganda writers. I’m also curious if this comment will even be posted.

Becki,
I thank you for bringing this to others’ attention. I truly believe that Obama is the Anti-Christ, and if Oprah has this much power via television, that perhaps she is part of all of that too. We HAVE to spread the word that there is ONLY one way to heaven and that is through the blood of Jesus Christ. One day, EVERY KNEE shall bow and EVERY TONGUE confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD. We cannot be wishy-washy about that, because it is God’s will that NO MAN should perish but that all should have eternal life. Until everyone knows the truth, we have to keep on showing it. The one comment that struck me was that Oprah was disturbed to know that God is a jealous God. He IS such because we continue to put other gods in front of Him, and THAT is what He is jealous about - the fact that we can continually put other things (gods) in front of Him. What are these gods? Drugs, Alcohol, Pornograhy, Addictions, Prostitution, Apathy, Acceptance of alternative lifestyles that in the Bible are stated as sinful, ANYTHING that denies God as first in our lives.
Okay, I’m done for now. Thanks for opening up this forum, and I pray that we all continue it to reach the world.

I agree with you totally and I couldn’t have said it better. People will try a nd creat a feel good its okay God in a heartbeat to suit their needs if they are in a position of power and influence such as Oprah. Yes it doen matter which path you take for even in the bible its says in so many ways that the road to hell is wide and well trodden and he road to righteousness is narrow and straight.

I’m a looong time christian who loves Jesus with all that is in me. He has put a love for the lost in me as well. That includes Oprah. Do I agree with her views? Obviously not, if I am a christian, and I said I was. However, I believe we fight against flesh and blood. We can’t demonize her with all this rediculous hooplah and drama the video depicts. She’s flesh and blood! What do we EXPECT from her? is she to act like a christian when she’s not? I’m not shocked, I’m not afraid. I’m alert, I care, I see her power, I pray. But, how do you think she would feel if she saw this video? Would she feel like we represent the one who died for her? I’m sorry, I just don’t think so.

OOPS! I meant to say we DON’T fight against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this present darkness, the unseen ones. She is not the enemy.

Va - You have a very solid point. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Tim - It’s true, many people that go to church don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus. Just because you go to church doesn’t make you a christian either.
I want to ask you something Tim.. when you go to church do feel deep down in your heart that it’s the right place for you to be? (I’m just curious and I know that it’s totally off topic here but I felt that I could ask you)
The last time I felt truly moved from my head to the tips of my toes was when I was in high school going to the First Baptist Church in Killeen Texas. I can’t explain it but it seems I’ve not had that feeling since. I don’t know if it’s because I was youthful at the time OR what.
Now that’s not to say that I don’t like the church that I go to today here in Omaha because I do. I was just curious as to your thoughts.
andibencic - I agree, we have lots of praying to do for sure!!
tony - what are you saying? You sound as if you believe that Oprah is going to save people and that Jesus has done nothing? Please explain your position.
interfaith - I’m sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with you. There is only one way to God and it’s through His Son Jesus Christ. We can exist peacefully as long as to do so doesn’t mean that I have to agree with you because I don’t.
only one way! - There is definitely only one way!! Thank you for sharing.
Hi sarah - As you can see.. your comment was indeed posted. I post all the comments here on this blog. The only comments that don’t go through are blatent advertisements from people that are trying to spam.
Linda - I don’t know if Obama is the Anti-Christ but it is disturbing to see how the media is following him around as if their tails are wagging and they can’t find any water to drink.
Amy - I believe Oprah is a good person BUT it’s not enough. Anybody can be good which is why it’s not enough.
Thanks y’all for sharing your thoughts and comments. I hope everybody is having a great weekend!!

Wow!
As a lover of God, I find Oprah and her teachings so scary. Especially for new believers and those that are lost. She basically says that simply because you are a good person, you are God. How crazy is that?
I was in a book club and the chosen book was, “A New Earth.” All of the women just loved Oprah and Eckhart. They had the book marked up and down. I sat there and was in disbelieve. I disagreed with almost everything that was talked about. I do believe that by me being there was only to plant a seed. I brought up some interesting points to the ladies and stirred some discussion. I no longer am part of the club because of the toll it took on me. I simply tried to be a reflection of Jesus.
angela | Jul 20, 2008 | Reply
It’s not enough to just be a good person.
What has happened with Oprah and Eckhart is that they have made themselves God.
If they have people believing that they are their own God then I guess it’s time to remind everybody that we are sinners.
Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice of all that sin.
God is God and I am clearly NOT God.

I recently had the opportunity to experience the videos that are presented by Louie Giglio(hope, indescribable, and How great it our God)and it really excited me as a Christian. We sometimes try to bring God down to our level, no way. This opened my eyes in a new way that I cannot explain. I do know this that in my mind it proves that Jesus was here at creation and has always been here. I love God with all my heart and all my soul and I find it painful to watch such a video as this. We live in scary times, because at a moments notice we can see, hear, or come in contact with much confusing information. We must discern and pray for guidance to make sure what we take in is from God and not SATAN. We must always have on our armor of salvation because all Satan wants to do is cause us to wonder and doubt our very being. We must not only talk the talk but we must walk the walk. People must see Jesus Christ in our lives not just on Sunday but every day. We must continually read our Bible and study so that we are prepared to fight these battles. Please be in prayer for Oprah, Obama, and millions of other people all over this world that are lost and cannot find their way(Jesus Christ is the only way and we must repent at the foot of the Cross and gain our salvation).

Your note made me think of this:
Ephesians 6: 10-20
The Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With t his in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Oprah is a new-age freak. She is a bit of everything and nothing of the truth. She has her own gospel, her own opinion of God without opening up the only way to God leading many down the path to hell..like many other false teachers, preachers and con artists. she will endorse anything except teh truth of Christ…so if Obama has a dream to be ‘a world leader’ she wants to be his media liason. Thats what we are in now…the predictions of Christ Himself in Mathew 24-25.

Hmmm…i’m a christian and I totally believe that even when evil intends for things to hurt and harm…God is totally able to make it for his will. I love oprah and her heart and intentions are good. I can’t understand or want to really how ppl are able to comment on her with such…hurtful words instead of saying “Hey…yeah she’s a bit mislead, but who hasn’t been? And what got us through? Yeah…ppl talking about that, that’s always helped?! No, someone who’s faith led them to pray!” Why talk about it…why not just pray for her? I think it’s meant to be “hate the sin, not the sinner?” I dont know, since i’ve heared people bashing her, it’s like they’ve turned a blind eye to how much good she’s done. There are few in this world that have been able to bless so many in their lifetime. I hope some people just get off their high horse and pray if they truly care. That’s all…
