My Brother Chris sent me an instant message yesterday telling me to turn on the news. It was about what was happening on Fort Hood. I sat frozen watching yesterday as the events unfolded. I couldn’t log into my Facebook account so immediately began the texting process from my Mobile Phone.
Yes, Fort Hood Killeen is my home town. It’s where I grew up. It’s where my father and our family were stationed for many years. It was home of the 2nd Armored Division as well as other military divisions. I’m constantly educating people when I tell them about where I am from. It’s the largest military establishment in the free world, that we know of. It’s the heart and soul of Killeen, Texas. Fort Hood, the place where I met my best friend. We lived on base housing from the ages of 12 all the way until we graduated high school. Middle School and High School years were spent there. My family is retired there. My friends live there. Acquaintances have been stationed there. My Facebook page is filled with friends of friends, classmates, and all sorts of people who consider Fort Hood, Killeen to be their home town too.
If you’re reading this post and you live in Fort Hood, Killeen, and Temple areas.. please get in your car and drive to Scott And White Hospital and donate your blood. They are in need of blood donations! As of last night 10 wounded were being housed at that hospital. Go donate your blood!
The gunman was a soldier, and two other soldiers have been detained as suspects, Lieutenant General Bob Cone said.
The slain gunman was identified as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, according to a law enforcement source. The source believes he is 39 or 40 years old.
Ten of the other dead also were soldiers, while the remaining one was a civilian police officer who was working as a contractor on the base, Cone said.
Thanks Jeanne-Marie for posting that on my Facebook page yesterday. My eyes were glued to Fox News. They weren’t releasing any names without first getting confirmation from the Pentagon that this indeed was the shooter of this horrific crime. It was reported that the shooter was dead. Imagine my shock when I found out later on that night that the shooter was ALIVE. How is that possible? How were those facts missed? Nobody in the news media had been reporting the shooter as having been ALIVE. What in the heck was going on down there? The facts are slowing coming out and people are being interviewed and the investigation continues.
Major Hasan was a “shrink” at Darnell Army Hospital. He was (at this time) the only shooter. He went to the Soldiers readiness building (which used to be called the sports dome) with two hand guns (one was automatic or semi automatic) He began shooting into a crowd of soldiers that were getting their blood work and paperwork ready for them to deploy to Afghanistan in Jan. He (Hasan) was shot several times by “police” (civilian security) A female officer took him down. She herself was shot several times by him. Both of them survived and are in stable condition. (yes the shooter lived, he was reported killed) This was as of 9pm in a press conference by Lt Gen Cone of Fort Hood. Killeen Police were waiting for a warrant to be issued last night to search his apartment in Killeen. I’ll keep you informed as we know.
Thank you Kris for sharing that on my Facebook page. At the time I was unable to log on so your update came straight to my phone. It’s nice to be able to go mobile with Facebook because sometimes texting and receiving texts is our only access to what is going on when we can’t be tuned in to local and national news. I am still dumbfounded that this guy is alive. I feel horrible for my friends and family that are affected by this massacre. I do not have a problem using that word because that is what it was… a massacre.
It’s a whole new ballgame people! Maj Malik Nidal Hasan (the Fort Hood shooter) is NOT dead after all. He is wounded and alive.
That was one of my Facebook updates. I had chills shoot right through my body as I was listening to these developments on the news. The first place I had heard of it was actually on Twitter. Then the comments continued after my update through to this morning.
Looks like I was not the only one that was shocked about this new developments surrounding Malik Nadal Hasan. Who puts on the Uniform of our brave men and women and then turns around and shoots as many as they can with two semi automatic weapons in the name of “allah” ?? This evil human being is a radical Muslim who needs to be treated like a terrorist. He shot, killed and wounded many!! Anyone (uniform or not) that would take a semi automatic weapon and start shooting PEOPLE in the name of “allah” is not only RADICAL but PURE EVIL.
Terrorism is defined by the US Department of Defense as “the unlawful use of — or threatened use of — force or violence against individuals or property to coerce or intimidate governments or societies, often to achieve political, religious, or ideological objectives.”
Go look it up and read for yourself!
It really irritates me when people that think and believe a certain way will speak before they stop to consider the facts surrounding a situation. The facts stand alone. If you don’t have the facts then shut your mouth. Yes, I’m a little ticked off when people want to act like this domestic terrorist didn’t have a religion or post signs to allah on the door of his apartment. Um, there is an entire history of events that are currently being investigated and revealed. This horrific massacre didn’t just happen without these facts leading up to the slaughter. The guy was a Radical Muslim in our armed forces. It’s interesting what people will do and say to stretch the story because heaven forbid you call somebody out as to what they really are. So don’t sit there and tell me that this man’s religion has not even been reported on. It’s clear that YOU are not PAYING attention! Do not let your personal religious thoughts, beliefs, spirituality OR lack thereof keep you from digesting the facts surrounding this information. Get over yourself! Keep your uneducated comments to yourself. Don’t speak on things you know nothing about. Don’t you dare tell me about my home town in my country. Keep your mouth shut!
Unfortunately there is a political side to this situation. Not because of the tragedy itself but because naive people, again do not want to see the facts as they are and as they unfold. I’m getting a bit exhausted hearing from people that #1) Do not believe in God (God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Son Jesus Christ) you know… the one true Lord of Lords and King of Kings. #2) Christians that call themselves “liberal” but do not really understand what it means to be a true liberal and what that says about their faith. #3) People that live in countries where socialism is alive, thriving, and working towards the demise of their own people… and have an opinion about how they think it should be in My country and in My home town. Shut your mouth. You don’t know what you are talking about. #4) People that want to tip toe and pretend that there is no room in our military OR our nation for Radical Muslim anything. It is Not a religion of peace that they want you to believe it is because they will do and say anything in the name of “allah” a false god, a false idol, and a FALSE religion. #5) People and news organizations that are IN THE TANK for BARACK OBAMA. Yes people! This has turned political. Everything that happens in this country is political because we have a President that has NO TACT and NO CLASS as to how he should even comment on these horrific events.
All the Obama lovers are scrambling to say that this YouTube clip has been manipulated. That it’s not real. That Barack Obama didn’t say what he said in the order in which he said it. The video has not been manipulated in any way, shape OR form. The fact of the matter is that Barack Obama should have addressed the people that he was speaking to in a manner that fits the situation. He should have walked up to the podium and addressed the FORT HOOD MASSACRE FIRST. You don’t give a “shout out” to your homie WHOEVER they are and go on and on BEFORE first addressing this horrible situation. It is a crisis in MY country and MY President didn’t have the skill, or the tactfulness to set his speech aside along with his “shout out” to address the most important topic at hand. I am sick and tired of people telling me that the videos I am sharing have been manipulated. Really? Which part? I think I can tell a bogus OR fake video from the real deal. I am so sick of people like you, yes people like you who are in the tank for Obama and your unwillingness to call a spade a spade if it’s really a spade.

Not surprised he is unaware of the importance of addressing the Fort Hood incident first. Making the shout outs his first priority at the conference while people are dying and suffering at Fort Hood is insensitive. His behavior convinces me that he clearly does not care! Spends too much time pushing for abortion on demand. Does not want the advise of military strategic experts and does not put the lives of our soldiers first. He needs time to think it over. Go into battle and ask your enemy to give you time to think over your next strategy! So Disappointed.

You know, you always asked me if I was on meds. No, not me. But listen, do yourself a favor and quickly check into the nearest menatal hospital that you can find.

Hey, Texas Truth, I too, live very, very close to Fort Hood. I have been on the base many times as I know a couple of families who live there. I have also visited a wonderful place called “Under the Hood”. If you are not familiar with it, you ought to check it out. It would do wonders for all of that pent-up anger you have.

My husband and I were both at home when we heard the news about the tragedy. After watching the news for about an hour, my husband turned to me and simply asked, “How long?” And I knew exactly what he was talking about. How long before the lunatic right wing fringe would jump on this and turn it into a political football having everything to do with Obama? I told him, “I am sure that they are already working on it.”
So let me ask you again. Do you ever stop hating? Have you no moral compass that guides you? To exploit this tragedy this way is simply wrong. You can twist it, you can spin it, but in the end, it is wrong. If you are a true Christian, I would stongly suggest meeting with your pastor for counseling. You need it.

Hi Texas Truth! I gotta tell ya I was super excited when I saw that you posted something new on your blog. I’m glad you are blogging again. You make a perfect point. It didn’t take long for them to blame this incident on George Bush and/or Republicans. I knew it was coming and you know what? I could care less what “they” think. I had somebody tell me just the other day that the news networks were the ones making Obama look bad because they didn’t take out or crop his two minute shout out before he addressed a very grave situation that was taking place in our nation. Uh excuse me but this wasn’t the fault of the news media. If Barack Obama was looking pretty bad it’s because he did that to himself. He should have arrived at his event and scrapped the reason he was there at the event OR set aside his event speech to speak on the Fort Hood situation first. Obama is in a poor light because he put himself there and people are not stupid. They can see exactly what is going on. Anyhow, it’s good to see you are still around.

My one, humble suggestion: Make a note that clarifies that dissenting, liberal opinions are not welcome. You will save yourself and others a lot of heartache and aggravation.

Angela: I appreciate your comment. I have been so busy at school and have had very little time to post on MY blog. I hope the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will give me some time to write. As far as the terrorist attack at Fort Hood (in MY world), it was certainly a classic example of “6 degrees of seperation.” I am only three steps from the terrorist and two steps from at least one person who was murdered by that piece of trash. I had contact with some people in the Killeen/Fort Hood area and to put it is simple terms; THEY WERE NOT HAPPY WITH P-BO GOING TO FORT HOOD. The troops, families, and many from the area respected the Office of the POTUS, but felt NO RESPECT for the man. This one act, and the way he reacted to it is going to cost him the White House in 2012. The military is pretty much against his Presidency and will turn out IN MASS to vote him out of office in 2012. The sad part is that this supposed intelligent man man cannot see how bad in trouble he is. The military will not forget Obama’s inaction at the next election.
I have seen a lot of references being made to Barack Obama as “Slowbama.” It makes sense. I don’t know what he is doing. He is flying all over the world giving speeches. We are about to have a 3 ring circus in NYC because these terrorists have more rights than we do. This administration can’t even get their so-called “transparent” numbers correct on the stimulus $$, jobs created, jobs saved, congressional districts, etc. I feel as if I’m in some sort of candy land game that has no winner. I feel like we will be in limbo for the next 3 years. 1 Down 3 to go.
