I checked out a couple of things tonight that I had heard about over the last couple of weeks. I don’t know if I will keep all of them but for now I’m at least going to give them a try on Domestic Divapalooza as well as our network of blogs over on Checkup Today.
- Kontera
- Blog Catalog
- Blog Rush
- Bumpzee
Maybe all you networking gurus out there can tell me what I’m in for with these programs, ya think? Well, I’d really be interested in any tips or tricks you have that you can share with me about these programs.
The Kontera one I’m not sure if that’s even going to work out because I’ve been trying for a couple of months to get them to send me my activation e-mail and it never comes. I’d really like to try this one out because I think there is a revenue potential with this one.
Blog Catalog reminded a lot of MyBlogLog. I’m not too sure what the differences are between the two of them. I just know that I like to see who is visiting my blogs even if they don’t leave a comment. I did notice tonight that the merge between Yahoo and MyBlogLog is getting pretty thick since they want you to merge your MyBlogLog stuff with your yahoo stuff now. I’m not sure that I like that too much. We’ll have to wait and see what they do with it.
Blog Rush I’m not too sure about. It’s suppose to bring you more traffic. We’ll see. I don’t really like how harsh that black color of the widget is but what choice do we have. You don’t get to pick the color that you want with this one. I haven’t quite figured out what the benefit of having your own referral code is either. Sometimes I think these programs are just glorified link farms. Am I wrong?
Bumpzee I stumbled on browsing the net and I think It caught my attention because of the name B-U-M-P-Z-E-E… so I check it out. Again, you get to see who has stopped by. I just don’t know if I’m going to like the statistic information at the bottom of the widget. You know, the stats that only we can see but you can’t? It bugs me for some reason. I think I would prefer to just log in if I wanted to view my site stats. But then again I’m not a fan of stats. I could care less how many people come to my blog.
Twitter reminded me a lot of tweety bird so I had to check that out. I still don’t understand what the benefit of having that is going to be either. I know that you can somehow connect it to your cell phone and such. I have a cell phone but I probably won’t connect the two. I’m too paranoid about solicitors getting my cell phone number. I don’t think twitter would do that. I guess I just don’t use my cell phone for all that much. I did post a couple of statements on the twitter and it only picked up one of my statements. I’m not sure if it’s because the other three I posted as questions. I honestly don’t know.
I don’t know much about these programs which is why I hope you can help me out with this one.
What do you know?

Congrats, Honey! You’ve won the Totally Fabulous Award!!!
I know this comment is off topic from the post, but I wanted it to be on your blog somewhere. You deserve it!
Way to go!
Okay, now that I’ve read the article *blush* I can make a more appropriate comment.
I have and have had different blogging networks on my blog at some point or another. I do see a little traffic from them. But I have noticed that what brings the most traffic (and returning traffic) to my blog is content. Posting quality content, frequently.
You’ll have to let me know if you see a substantial difference in the traffic at your blog because of these.
You know what’s so funny about me Marie? I can’t stand keeping track of my site stats and hardly ever do. I’m with you: Posting Quality Content Frequently.
When it comes to blogging it’s for the love of blogging and networking that keeps me interested. I love being able to share my opinion and chime on things that are important to me.
Hi,
I’m a member of mybloglog, blogcatalog and bumpzee and you’re right they are all very similar – I did only recently join bumpzee and I think the bonus of that one is that you can create or join a variety of different communities – each of them though brings me some traffic each day – and like you I like to see who is visiting my blog and when possible return the favour – I’ve come across some interesting content that way :)
With Blogrush (yes I’m a member of that too) you can change the colour of the widget – they’re called flavours and all you need to do is go into the dashboard and pick which colour you want (you are restricted – at this stage at least – to their colours, though there is a fairly wide variety) as far as the referral link goes – basically if someone joins under your referral your blog shows up in more widgets on other peoples sites (there’s a video on the site that goes into more detail on it)
WOW Vanessa! THANK YOU so much for breaking it down for me. I really appreciate it. I thought my head was kinda spinning around so fast I wasn’t sure if I would ever figure it out, ya know? Ok.. I’m headed over to your blog to check it out! See you over there! :)
