It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been to church. I really haven’t been in the right frame of mind to go and put on a happy face. Thankfully this week I realized that church is probably the best place for me to be even when I’m frustrated and unhappy. There is a lot going on but I can’t really discuss it because I promised I would not blog it. It’s important that I keep my promise.
Today’s message had my name written all over it. It was about restoring the broken and dealing with distractions. You can actually hear the sermon for yourself as they post it over on the church website: www.brookside.net – Pastor Jeff Dart does an amazing job of getting people to relate. The verses were on Nehemiah 6:1-19; Nehemiah 4:1-23 — Come to think of it, I don’t know anybody by the name of Nehemiah, do you?
After church I picked up two tickets to the October 26 Chili Feed and Comedy night at Brookside. The cost is $7.50 per person. It’s an adult only event and I’m really looking forward to it since they are going to have a comedian performing. I’m also looking forward to the adult conversation as well as the chili.
If you are thinking about it please keep my family in your prayers. If you don’t pray, send up positive vibes. We’re going through some stuff and we just need some guidance and know-how to get us through the situation. I’m hoping the experts we are about to see have the knowledge and the know-how to make some good recommendations too.
In line with today’s sermon I’d like to tackle what needs to be done w/out any distractions.
Have a great week you guys!

Sometimes it is the fellowship and the words that can help give us strength and comfort, whether it is a church or a special group of friends, or a women’s group, or some kind of spiritual setting. I hope it helps and sending positive thoughts your way.
My weekend was kind of crazy (art related) but the weather was glorious and I got lost in the beauty of the colours of the trees, the sun kissing my cheek, and the butterflies fluttering around our garden.
Hope you had a great chilli feed and comedy night.
The chili feed/comedy night is coming up this Friday. I’m looking forward to it.
I recently returned to my church after a few months away, and I can not tell you how great my “outlook” on eveything has been since!
We are a praying family, so you will be in our prayers!
The only Nehemiah I know was from MTV’s the Real World. I do remember thinking that was the first time I had heard of someone with that name!
You are in my prayers, Honey.
I find it interesting that you choose today (well, yesterday) to return to church. I haven’t attended for two weeks, and decided today that no matter what, I was going back on Sunday. Maybe God is reaching out to a lot of people this week.
I hope you find what you are looking for. And I hope your family is well.
Love to you all, Marie
Super Mom –
I know the Nehemiah that you are talking about because I watch those MTV Real World and Road Rules shows.
I’m kind of addicted to MTV in that I’ve been watching it since it came out in 1980. Well, now you know there is an entire book in the Bible devoted to Nehemiah!
Marie –
Thanks for praying! It’s nice to know that there are others that have battled with what to do about church.
In my case I realized that I have to make church what I think it should be and that I should never not go just because there is somebody that attends that hasn’t been very nice to me.
I hope that I find what I’m looking for too. That’s not to say that I’m not curious about other churches here in town too. I think it’s only natural to wonder what the other churches are doing.
Angela,
I have no idea what your family is going through, but I’m positive that you will make it through the crisis. If you’ve read my “myspace about me” section, you’ll see that I give my wife all the praise in the world for staying by my side all these years. It doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all the things we have been through. Nearly 14 years together and we still learn something new about one another everyday. If we can keep our family together and happy, anyone should be able to do the same(barring certain circumstances).
You’re in my conversations with God and my most positive thoughts of happiness and well-being go out to you and yours.
Thank you so much Horatio! I really appreciate the prayers as well as the positive thinking. It means a lot!
I will give thanks to the creator for giving your family the faith and hope you need to enjoy the gift of life. I’m sure said faith and hope are there now, just behind the veil of today’s distractions.
Thanks PTG!! :)
