Honestly — I’m shocked

October 9th, 2009 by Angela | Filed under Ramblings.

I’m dumb-founded. I have absolutely NO idea why Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. I don’t know what to say about it. LOL Between Al Gore winning it and now Barack Obama — I don’t get it?

Maybe somebody out there can explain to me why he won the Nobel Peace Prize and why on Earth he would give that money to charity when he could be redistributing it to the hundreds of people that were standing in line waiting to file for unemployment in Detroit.

Please tell me — what has Barack Obama done to win the Nobel Peace Prize? What does one have to do in order to win it?

All those Anti-War Demonstrators during the Bush years — where are they and why aren’t they screaming about Obama making no effort to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Wasn’t that one of the big promises that he made — to bring our troops home?

I haven’t changed my stance. Do I think we need to wrap it up and bring our troops home? Of course I do! But, I want to make sure that the troops get the job done and done right. I know that is what the troops want and I want what they want.

But come on now — where are the Anti-War Protesters? Or was it just George Bush they were pissed off at? Now that Barack Obama is President they don’t need to protest the wars that he promised he would put an end to and bring the troops home. Oh so it just depends on whether or not you like whose living in the White House. I get it now.

I have no idea why he won the Nobel Peace Prize. It’s laughable. I saw the news report this morning and did a double take. I was like “oh really? And why is that?” LOL Come on — the Nobel Peace Prize? Really? Then I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe the Nobel Peace Prize people felt sorry for Barack because he wasn’t charismatic enough to convince the Olympic committee to bring the Olympics to Chicago. For the record, I am HAPPY we did NOT get the Olympics in Chicago OR the United States of America.

Now before you start bashing me for my stance on the Olympics — hear me out. Obama has his priorities all MESSED UP. What’s he doing jet-setting to Europe to catch up with BFF’s Michelle and Oprah? How come Gail wasn’t invited to go? He won’t talk to boots on the ground but he’ll fly away to try and convince a group of people why the Olympics should come to us — yet we don’t deserve to be treated with respect as a Nation and he’s had to apologize to Europe for our bad behavior. Hmmm.

Oh yeah — back to the Nobel Peace Prize delio. I think they felt sorry for him because he was unsuccessful with the Olympic people. So they gave him the Nobel Peace Prize. Right?

Al Gore thinks Obama deserved to get it — so does Jimmy Carter. Hmmm. I wonder if they know why?

I’d love to Congratulate Barack Obama on his Peace Prize win — but it’s kinda hard to do that when I don’t understand what it is exactly that he did to win it? Come on now — somebody help me out. Why did he win the prize? Cuz I really do NOT know!?

I think what the International Community loves best about Barack Obama is that he has managed to beat us down. Our economy is sucking pretty bad, there’s talk of another stimulus package coming, and of course Europe is rejoicing. We’re not the economic leaders that we once were because greedy and corrupt politicians want to step on hard working Americans.

Some want to say that Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize because he is black. I sure hope not! That’s NO REASON to win something — I don’t care WHAT COLOR YOU ARE.

Barack Obama didn’t need to give that Nobel Peace Prize Money to charity. We — THE AMERICAN PEOPLE — give to charity. Only we don’t wait until we win a prize to do it.

I don’t even think Obama himself knows what he did to deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. Between him and Al Gore apparently you don’t have to do much.

Dr. Laura: President Obama Should Reject the Nobel Prize – I thought Dr. Laura had an interesting take on this Nobel Peace Prize situation. She makes excellent points.

BlogMommas: Congratulations? – My friend Becki was just as baffled as I was. She felt Obama has done nothing to deserve this award.

  1. Dude, you are not alone in that sentiment. I am totally shocked as well. There are dozens of others who’ve done infinitely more worthy deeds along the lines of practicing and supporting peace.

Personally, I DO NOT think current President’s should even be eligible. Before or after their term, possibly, but not DURING.

    Angela,
I’ve been soooo waiting for this post. I am totally with you, all the way with everything you wrote. I’m just dumbfounded as well.

The only insight I can give you is a friend of mine’s perspective, he lives in the UAE (united arab emirates)…He posted about how great this was, and I said I disagreed, and he said “This is very important for the following presidents who should appreciate the presidency as a powerful and an influential position for the world peace.”

I can understand where he’s coming from, living in the middle east, with all the fighting, but I still don’t agree. Other president’s have received the award, Nobama has done nothing to win this award, its a joke, and in my opinion, it just erodes our credibility as a country even more.

The Nobel Peace Prize is a JOKE.
