CNN Offensive

About a week and a half ago we put up a poll to see how many folks would cast a vote saying they find the CNN attack on the Tea Party Movement offensive.

We ended up with just under 5,000 votes with almost 100% feeling the CNN attack was offensive. 5,000 votes may not mean much to some, but we consider it a fairly strong statement. So strong, in fact, we’ve decided to respond with a full scale internet campaign to help us start building a coalition that opposes CNN and those who enable them to spew their hate.

CNN Offensive

CNNOffensive.com is in place to accomplish several goals.

1) Demand a Public Apology
And not just a standard, general apology. No, we want a direct apology issued to the hundreds of thousands of Americans who attended a Tea Party on April 15th.

2) No More Taxpayer Funded Soapbox
CNN’s offensive, partisan content is displayed in public owned spaces all across the country (Municipal Airports, for example) and we believe this is unacceptable. We intend to identify these areas and begin contacting local government to have this come to an end.

3) Contact CNN Sponsors
CNN is free to spew partisan speech all they like. We’re firm believers in free speech and we’re happy to see CNN use it just like any other Americans can. That being said, we the people are free to choose what companies we spend our money on.

The companies who choose to sponsor CNN, in our opinion, choose to support the offensive message CNN publishes. There for, we will choose to support their competitors wherever possible.

Super! I signed the petition and that fed me through to the page where you are encouraged to call the advertisers of CNN to complain. I called Joseph A Banks first. The lady there said “what teaparty?” so I went through and explained the entire thing, and let her know what it is and why it is happening, and I said it disappoints me to see such a fine clothier shoveling money over to such a corrupt news organization. Then I called Boston Market. The lady who answered said she has had several calls, and she assured me that my thoughts would be forwarded on to the appropriate department. I also called EHealth Insurance. I had planned to point out to them that by supporting CNN they are funding their own demise, since CNN supports Obama and Obama supports the institution of a national health plan, which will be the death of private health care in this country, as well as the death of private health insurance. But there phone tree was a tremendous hassle and I never got through to the appropriate department. Maybe someone can find a better number and replace the information on the page.

Thanks for this post. Very important stuff!

    Wind Y Ess,

Thank you so much for bringing me up to speed on how it went for you when you contacted some of these CNN sponsors.

This issue is so important that from now on when folks chime in to share which sponsors they contacted, what was said, how it went, and what the turnout was.. I am going to feature your comment on my blog.

I hope you don’t mind but that is just how important this issue is!!!

No problem. If you do feature my comment, I would love it if you would please change “But there phone tree” to “But their phone tree”. I did not see that error until after I had submitted the comment.

I will look forward to reading the experiences of others. This is, as you say, a very important issue.

Thanks for your efforts, Angela. CNN is so self-righteous and arrogant that they don’t care what we think. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a public apology. Getting at them through their advertisers might be more effective. It can be frustrating, and Wind points out.

Many companies are more responsive (and at least easier to reach) by good old-fashioned Postal Service mail. The telephone is so “right now” that it is costly for these companies to keep live people on the payroll to take your calls. A ’snail mail’ letter might sit on someone’s desk for a few days, but eventually it gets read. A blizzard of letters is always effective.

The publicly funded locations that provide CNN as a ’service’ to their users are usually controlled by an elected or appointed “board” of some sort. Often these boards are full of folks that agree with CNN. You might reach them by reminding them of one of their own canards” the fairness doctrine. Otherwise, its back to campaigning to elect folks with better sense, either to these boards or to replace the elected officials who appoint them.

    CNN, the Commie News Network!
