The Politics of Politics

January 30th, 2008 by Angela | 3 Comments | Filed in Ramblings

John Edwards is out and so is Rudy Giuliani. John Edwards trying to run again should have never happened in the first place. He wasted all his time, money and resources to attempt something that wasn’t in his reach.

Rudy Giuliani dropping out is disappointing to me. What was he thinking running in the first place? Everybody knows if you are going to run for something as important as President of the United States you have to go and show yourself in all of the states and give 500% in ALL of them. No, he thought he would do it with just Florida. What a losing formula THAT was!

American Idol Omaha

Did you watch American Idol Omaha tonight? I don’t think I saw anybody from Omaha on the show, did you? My favorite singer was the dude from the small town in Iowa that forgot the words to the song.

I have a feeling American Idol will not be back to the Midwest any time soon. Are we THAT boring? If I was a judge trying to decide if American Idol Omaha the show itself would advance to Hollywood — I would send the producers home to think about what they are doing and start over.

They could have put so much more into the show. Why didn’t they?

Barack Obama’s response to Bush’s Last State of the Union

January 29th, 2008 by Angela | 4 Comments | Filed in Ramblings

Do you agree with Barack Obama? I sure don’t!! I thought President Bush did a fantastic job addressing the country on his last State of the Union. I’m glad that I voted for him each time that he ran for office and if he would run for office a 3rd time I would vote for him again in a heart beat.

I have a feeling that the votes Barack Obama has been getting is not because people think he can run the country but more because he is black and happens to be a man. Same thing for Hillary but she is white and happens to be a woman.

I don’t think Barack Obama has enough experience to run this country and I don’t like that he is basing his entire Presidential package on being able to unite the country when black people everywhere are looking at him for preferential treatment.

I don’t think Hillary Clinton has the experience that it takes to run this country either and these thoughts coming from a white woman! I do not want Bill Clinton in the White House again — I don’t care if he’s in the capacity of first lady. Their family is full of drama. I don’t want more drama for the next four years. I don’t like how she addresses the drama that surrounds her and Bill Clinton has been nothing but trouble for her during her bid for the President.

I still don’t know who I’m going to vote for. I am leaning towards Giuliani but only because he’s not far left and he’s not far right. At least for now that’s who I’m leaning toward. I could change my mind later.

I just don’t want black people voting for Barack because he’s black and white women OR women in general voting for Hillary because she’s a woman. They are human beings and it’s better to vote for them if you’re going to because you think they can do a good job running the country.

This is what I listen to when I’m cleaning my kitchen

I know my back-door neighbors probably think I’m crazy because I know they can see me dancing while I’m rinsing off the dishes. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good dance beat!

I am bored out of my mind with the internet, blogging, networking, reading blogs — I’m just BURNED OUT!! I’m over it!! I’ve had enough!! I’m putting myself on a different schedule. That’s it!! I just have to do it and stick to it.

Politics is boring me — our country is headed toward recession and all they can think about is how to save the business owners. What about the homeless peeps out there living in a box trying to stay warm?

I don’t even want to see a political news report about who’s running for what OR what so-and-so said during such-and-such debate — they all suck!! Politicians can not be trusted — PERIOD!! Had Oprah Winfrey run with Obama then that might have been something to get excited about BUT she didn’t — so there you have it!!

I stepped on the scale Monday and I think I gain weight by simply breathing air. How many calories does air have if you’re not eating anything?? So I’ve got this gig going where I will weigh myself once a week and measure my inches once a month. I’m still in the low 170’s. I have got to lose some serious lbs by the time June rolls around. I can NOT go to my 20th reunion FAT. I will NOT!!

The blogosphere is boring!! I’m so sick of reading tips and tricks on how to write, how to WAHM from home on the computer, and how to be PC when you write online that I’m about ready to delete my news reader and be done with it!! There are so many DIY making money from home guru’s and blog nuts that I’m OVER It!!

The only exciting thing that has happened was the Gauntlet III is on MTV and their 1st episode was last night. CT is gonna get his butt dumped by Diem if he doesn’t watch his adult beverage consumption. Other than that — I’m just BORED OUT OF MY MIND!!

Fred Thompson is OUT!

Why am I not surprised that Fred Thompson is OUT? This does not surprise me one bit! He entered the race late and has a personality that doesn’t quite grab me. He didn’t even act as if he wanted to run OR that his bid was important at all. Half @$$ doesn’t impress me. I knew it was a matter of time before he was OUT.

No Candidate Strikes My Fancy

January 20th, 2008 by Angela | 4 Comments | Filed in Ramblings

My Washingtonpost.com news alert is telling me that Clinton and Romney won in Nevada. JOY! I’m getting to the point where I don’t really care for any of the candidates that are running for President of the United States. Oh sure, some more than others but can any of them run this country?

The new furnace works great in our house. We have it set on 70 degrees during the day and it kicks down to 68 degrees at night. I like how everything is digitized and programmed. It will kick up to 70 degrees in the morning when Lauren gets up to get ready for school. Nobody has to touch it or mess with it. NICE!

I don’t know what was wrong with me today. I roll over in bed and the room starts spinning. I don’t know if it’s my sinuses or What!? I’ve slept most of the day. I missed church services. I really did not want to miss church but just didn’t feel good enough to go. I even have a brand new big print NIV version that I can hold in one hand and actually see and follow along with in church. It has to be my sinuses OR something.

We had to take Kinsley to Children’s Hospital today. It turns out she has “nurse maid’s elbow” — at least that is what they called it at the emergency room. Some time between yesterday at the pool at Prairie Life and today it must have come out of place and then snapped back into place. I had a feeling it was nurse maid’s elbow because Lauren had that happen to her when she was Kinsley’s age.

I keep telling people all the time — you shouldn’t swing or grab your kids from their wrists but nobody listens to me. I actually am not sure when she got the Nurse Maid’s Elbow so there is no telling how it happened. It could have happened while she was playing. You know how hard kids tend to play. Anyway, she’s going to be fine. Everything is all snapped back into place and she’s starting to move her arm around like nothing happened.

Yesterday was a HORRIBLE day!!

Some of you that are on MySpace already know that we have NO heat whatsoever. Our furnace went out and something cracked and we could have had some sort of Carbon Monoxide issue. Thank goodness AKSARBEN was able to figure out what was going on.

So we got two space heaters from Home Depot that do not really work very well. We’ll be taking those back today. We borrowed some space heaters from Don’s folks and the smallest one works the best. So I think when Don takes back the two that he bought from Home Depot we are going to trade those in for a small one that he can use down in his office.

The guys from AKSARBEN are here right now putting in our new furnace with all the bells and whistles. It’s going to be around 4K. Everybody and their mother was trying to convince us to get a heat pump but that was putting us at around 9K and we just can NOT afford it. Even with fantastic financing we can’t afford it and our credit is GREAT too!

Don will be graduating with his bachelors from college in the fall and we’ll have to start paying back his student loan which by-the-way was NOT cheap. Lauren will be a senior next year and we’ll be forking out cash for all the senior things that happen during your senior year AND we’ll be getting her ready for college. We have NO savings because we are still trying to recover from our little real estate fiasco.

When it rains it pours but you know what? I’m not worried and I know that no matter what happens in life we get through it by the Grace of God. He will provide us a way to handle life’s little bumps in the road. I thank my lucky stars that we are not on the street and we have a roof over our heads.

Last night we snuggled up in our bedroom with a space heater and the little ones had their footie pajamas on to keep them warm AND under the covers with Mom to keep me warm. Lauren spent the night at her friend’s house last night. I’m sure she thought THAT was cool because it was on a school night.

So we’re just going to do the furnace and the guys will get that running shortly and hopefully by tonight we will have heat again. If not, we’ll be headed to the hotel!!!!!

Romney Wins Michigan

romney-wife

I thought this was a great photo of Mitt Romney with his wife Anne. I found this doing a search for Romney on Google images. That’s how I find most of the stuff I use in my blogs. His wife is really pretty, don’t you think?

Anyway, I hear that he won in Michigan. Doesn’t it seem like they are all winning somewhere?

I was watching Obama, Edwards, and Hillary on some sort of closed news round table. I think it was meet the press or something like that. When you put Obama and Hilary next to Edwards they can’t stand up to him. Edwards is a debate expert attorney. Not only does he answer the question but he makes his own weaknesses look like positives.

Obama is trying so hard to convince the country that he can bring both sides of the political divide together to do it different. Clinton won’t make eye contact with the camera. Have you noticed that she looks down or away when she doesn’t know how she’s going to respond to the question? Edwards, he’s so good at answering the questions that he just needs to work on that smirk! The guy speaks well but does he mean well?

It’s snowing ever so lightly outside and I think we are going to go to Sam’s club to get some shopping done. You know, we need stuff like toilet paper in bulk, honey nut cheerios galore, and whatever spring fashions they have on sale for the girls.

Talk to you guys later! :)

Go And Do Likewise

January 13th, 2008 by Angela | 7 Comments | Filed in Ramblings

That was the name of today’s sermon at church. (Yes, this time I went to church) It was called “Go And Do Likewise” — Luke 10:25-37 — Before that we read the section in Luke that talks about Loving our Enemies too. I believe it’s Luke Chapter 6.

So basically in a nutshell we are commanded to love our neighbors. I suppose it’s ok to love our neighbors from a distance, right? The parts in the Bible that talk about how we are to love our enemies — we can do that from a distance too, right? Especially if those people aka: our neighbors happen to be toxic?

You see, that was my new years resolution — to stay away from toxic people that live to bring others down. I keep thinking — love my neighbor, love my neighbor, love my neighbor. So would you consider family to be a type of neighbor? My husband says that we are all in the same family so family would be considered our neighbor too.

I struggle with those verses. When I wake up I remember to tell myself to be nice. Pray for those people that hate you Angela. Pray for the negative situations that are all around you. Keep your distance and don’t say too much if at all possible.

I’m thinking it’s ok to love my enemies from a distance — right? I can pray for them and for the situations from far far away — right? I don’t have to actually talk to my enemies — do I? What if I have tried over, and over, and over, and over again AND without much success and to maintain a relationship with what I would call a high maintenance person is just WAY too much — what do you say to that?
